so - christmas was fun. as my dad put it "we haven't had a 7 year old to help open presents in a long time." for the past many years christmas has been my parents and i giving eachother heartfelt gifts as we sip coffee by the fireplace, listening to mom's new christmas cd. we did all of those things this year as well, simply at a bit faster pace. felix and wesley flew into anchorage on the 26th - and we headed straight for my parents house where wesley brought his new energy to the day. wesley also got his "anchorage time" - we spent the week snowboarding, sledding, getting a new pet snake, playing with his "anchorage friends", rock-climbing, mini-golf....etc. we had fun. he's a good kid.
more recent news - i can now see 20/15 without any sort of lenses! laser eye surgery really is amazing. i'm in the post-op recuperating stage, but already seeing clearly, just tiring more quickly than normal.
felix and i are beginning to plan our costa rica trip. we're lining up a bike tour to begin with, and plan to do some beaches as well. "beach and bike" we're calling it. he's still been getting some biking days in out in kodiak; me - i'll have to hop on the trainer once my post-op instructions allow me to raise my heart rate and blood pressure. i went for a very slow ski with downhill goggles on today - it's hard for me to "lay low."
so - that's the latest ----
by the way - the snake's name is apparently "jack" - at least that's what wesley told me today, it might change tomorrow.
